VelociRAX Launches Adventure For All Program

In 2024, VelociRAX launched The Adventure for All program—an initiative built to bring more freedom, independence, and adventure to people who use wheelchairs and others in need. Part of VelociRAX’s give back initiative, The Adventure for All program gives Firefly wheelchair accessories to make adventure more accessible to those in the wheelchair community.

For many in the wheelchair community, places that aren’t paved or designed with accessibility in mind—gravel paths, grassy fields, dirt trails, steep inclines—are simply off-limits. The Firefly 2.5 Wheelchair Attachment changes that.

By attaching the Firefly to the front of a wheelchair, this powerful device transforms it into an electric scooter, making once-difficult areas fun and fully accessible. Learning about how this wheelchair accessory can transform mobility was something we connected with.

For us at VelociRAX, the Adventure for All program is about more than just equipment. It’s about people, stories, and restoring a sense of possibility.

How It All Began

The inspiration for the The Adventure for All program started with one of our own—our team member, Seth, and his wife, Savannah.

Savannah has always been an adventurer at heart. Before her accident, she thrived on activity—mountain biking, dirt biking, canyoneering—anything that pushed the limits and got her outdoors. But after a tragic accident left her paralyzed from the waist down, life changed in ways that words can hardly capture.

For Seth and Savannah, the question quickly became: What does life look like now?

Our founders, Blake and Bryce, watched this journey unfold and asked themselves another question: “What can we do to help?” They knew that Savannah’s adventurous spirit hadn’t disappeared—it was simply stuck behind new barriers. After many conversations, rounds of research, and thoughtful discussions with Seth, one idea stood out: the Firefly!

The moment Savannah attached the Firefly to her wheelchair, dirt trails, hills, and rough terrain weren’t roadblocks anymore. She could navigate them with ease, speed, and independence. What was once inaccessible became open again. For Savannah, this wasn’t just about mobility — it was about reclaiming her freedom.

Savannah described the experience best herself:

“It is a game-changer—what was once a barrier is now not even a question. Outdoor concerts, amusement parks, and grocery stores went from being a total pain to no problem at all!”

The Turning Point

After witnessing how profoundly the Firefly transformed Savannah’s life, Seth began to wonder how many others in the wheelchair community could experience the same freedom if only they had access to one.

He approached VelociRAX founders Blake and Bryce with the idea of helping to bridge that gap, and the impact was undeniable—watching Savannah rediscover adventure was both inspiring and eye-opening.

If one Firefly could restore so much independence and joy to a single person, how many others were out there longing for the same? The answer was clear: it couldn’t stop with Savannah.

From that realization, the Adventure for All program was born—an initiative through which VelociRAX began donating Firefly units to wheelchair users, offering not just a device, but a pathway back to adventure, independence, and joy.

Why the Firefly Matters

The Firefly 2.5 Wheelchair Attachment fills a unique gap in the wheelchair community. While it drastically improves mobility and access, it doesn’t qualify as “adaptive equipment” under insurance guidelines. That means wheelchair users can’t rely on insurance or grants to help pay for it.

And for most, the financial burden of living with a spinal cord injury is already enormous. Extra funds are often tied up in medical bills, physical therapy, home modifications, and essential adaptive gear. Even though the Firefly is far less expensive than many adaptive devices, it remains out of reach for many families.

That’s why VelociRAX chose to step in and fill that gap. The The Adventure for All program exists to remove financial barriers and place this life-changing device directly into the hands of those who need it most. We’ve been able to help those in our local community reclaim access and mobility—enabling them to adventure more.

Moving Forward

What began as a single act of support for Savannah has now grown into a movement. Each Firefly we donate carries the same spirit of that first one—the belief that adventure, freedom, and independence should be accessible to everyone. We are proud to support our local wheelchair community and others with disabilities, helping open the outdoors to all.

At VelociRAX, bike racks may be our business, but people are at the heart of what we do. The Adventure For All program is our way of giving back to a community that inspires us daily. It is a reminder that with the right tools, we can break barriers, and possibilities can open wide again.

The Adventure For All program will be a continuing series of inspirational stories of courageous individuals reclaiming their independence. And we are grateful to be a part of their journey.
