Built for versatility, the 412 MAX hitch rack airs things out a bit with 12 inches between bikes, making it ideal for mountain bikes, kids bikes, and eBikes alike. This 4 bike rack is tidy enough for smaller SUVs yet stout with up to 100 lbs per tire basket, don’t hesitate to load up the electric steeds (up to 300 lbs total bike weight). No lifting while loading required thanks to our roll-in, roll-out design, and Camp Mode racks bikes on the ground while giving you unfettered access into the back of your vehicle—because snack access is important.

- RVs/Trailers: you will need to have a Class III 2-inch hitch receiver with a tongue weight capacity of 500 lbs at a minimum (bumper hitches, extension hitches, and hitches with cantilevered sections allow too much hitch movement and are inadequate). One item to check is if a ladder could possibly interfere with the rack. Trailers and RVs produce extreme forces on racks and bikes. Take extra care to strap tight and use rubber bands (or bike tubes cut in ~1 inch sections) placed on the brake levers to decrease natural motion between bike and rack and fully secure the VelociRAX's built-in anti-rattle system.
- As with any vertical rack low clearance vehicles hauling long wheelbase bikes need to be careful, especially when backing up.
- Any non-VelociRAX products used in conjunction with VelociRAX racks, including third-party accessories (swing arms, extensions, sleeve reducers, etc.) or modifications, will void the VelociRAX warranty.

  • The 412 MAX rack carries up to 4 bikes, each tire basket supporting up to 100 lbs with a maximum of 300 lbs total bike weight for the rack. Ideal for mixed family bikes, mountain bikes, fat tire bikes (requires fat tire baskets) and e-bikes.

  • The 412 MAX supports 20–29 inch wheels with tire widths from 700cc – 3 inches, including family & kids bikes, mountain bikes, road, gravel, fat tire (fat tire baskets required) and e-bikes. Road bikes (and other non-flat bars like cruiser style bikes) fit as well but require skipping baskets between them as the drop bars interfere with the bike directly to the right. A road bike can be placed in the far right position of any VelociRAX vertical hitch rack without interference. For adjacent placement of road bikes check out the 15-inch spacing found on the X racks (3X MAX and 5X MAX).

  • "412" MAX refers to the unique 12-inch spacing between tire baskets found on the 412 MAX. This is ideal where a little more space is warranted (ebikes with wider cranks, fat tire bikes with wider tires, etc.) vs the standard 10-inch spacing found on the 5, 6 and 7 MAX racks. The 12-inch spacing is not sufficient for side by side placement of road and gravel bikes with drop bars, which require the 15-inch spacing found on the X model racks (3X MAX and 5X MAX).

  • Yes! Damper-assisted lowering for roll-in/roll-out loading make it easy to load and unload bikes without the need to lift bikes.

  • A 2-inch Class III hitch receiver with sufficient tongue weight capacity (500 lbs) is required for safe transport of 4 bikes. You will also need 3 3/8" clearance past the center of your hitch pin hole.

  • Yes! The tilt lever and smooth damper-assisted lowering allows quick and easy rear access to SUVs, hatchbacks and trucks*, without unloading the bikes.

    *Trucks may require a hitch adaptor to get sufficient extension to lay the tailgate flat.

  • No — all VelociRAX hitch racks include built-in anti-rattle for smooth, stable travel, even fully loaded on and off-road.

  • Yes! An integrated locking system or cable lock is available to secure your bikes to the rack. The rack also locks to your vehicle using the included keyed hitch lock for a safe and secure connection.

  • Yes! The tire-only contact design is ideal and protects carbon, alloy and delicate frames.

  • The included garage wall mount bracket allows convenient vertical storage in your garage or shed. Bonus: you will be able to rack up to 4 bikes in the stored rack, freeing up garage floor space!
